The Orange Trust Announces a New Partnership with a Hospital in Zanzibar

Updated: Dec 30, 2025

Connecting with diverse communities remains a core value of The Orange Trust. In November 2025, the charity took an important step forward by forming a new partnership with the Samia Foundation in Zanzibar.

Through this collaboration, The Orange Trust is supporting the Kizimkazi Health Centre by providing essential medical staffing, including dentists, doctors and health support personnel, as well as funding and vital medical equipment. All resources supplied have been directly requested by the hospital’s staff to ensure that the most urgent and appropriate needs are met.

Prior to this partnership, Kizimkazi Health Centre was only able to operate at approximately 20% of its capacity due to a severe shortage of medical staff. The funding provided by The Orange Trust is helping to address critical operational challenges, including fuel for ambulances and the procurement of surgical equipment. Notably, the charity has supplied essential equipment required for performing C-sections, significantly strengthening the hospital’s ability to provide life-saving care.

This support is particularly impactful given the hospital’s ongoing struggle to secure timely funding for basic resources. In addition to equipment and staffing, The Orange Trust is also delivering training programs for hospital staff, enabling them to update their skills and enhance their medical knowledge.

This partnership represents a step toward improving healthcare access and expanding local medical expertise which is an outcome that aligns closely with The Orange Trust’s commitment to sustainable community development.
